Anna Zlatkovskaya, the guardian of political prisoner Alexei Ivanisov, talks about participation in the joint informationn company of our Foundation and the Dissidentby.com initiative in support of political prisoners the "Until All Are Free" campaign.
"I chose to be the guardian of Alexey Ivanisov because I met his mother during my work in the Politzek.me project. I was very impressed by her story. I realized that I wanted to support them so that they knew that in this world there is a person who not all the same.
Many political prisoners say it is important to them that they are not forgotten. It’s hard to even imagine the conditions they are in today. We only read about this in articles devoted to their life in prison. But it’s one thing to read, another thing to experience it yourself. And if I imagine myself in their place for even a couple of minutes, I understand that I would like outside support. To know that somewhere out there there are people who tell my story, worry about me and are waiting for my return.
As long as someone needs you, you can probably withstand difficult trials. In 2020, we promised not to forget, not to forgive lawlessness, and today being a guardian means keeping that promise. Because I was lucky not to end up in dungeons, but others weren’t.
I’m trying to write Alexey’s story, but I can’t tell all the details so as not to harm his family. It is important that Alexey and his mother are glad that I am in their lives. I believe that one day I will hug them both, that's what we all live for."
Alexey Ivanisov is a political prisoner, included in the list of persons "engaged in terrorist and extremist activities". Former military officer, communications officer. He was detained in September 2021. Later he was sentenced to 14 years in prison under five articles of the Criminal Code.
