Belarusian human rights defenders, united in the Emergency Humanitarian Aid Service, continue their attempts to reach Sergey Eremeev. According to the latest information, the Belarusian accused of sabotaging two trains in Buryatia is being held in pre-trial detention center "Lefortovo" in Moscow.
This was discovered after numerous appeals from lawyers. However, contrary to the law, the lawyer was not allowed to see Sergey Eremeev. The justification: permission from the investigator is required. The name of the investigator was refused to be provided by the staff of the "Lefortovo" detention center. It is worth noting that the staff of the detention center in Ulan-Ude, the capital of Buryatia, to which human rights defenders sent an official request, were keenly interested in who hired the lawyer and for what purpose.
Belarusian human rights defenders will take all necessary actions to legally obtain access to the detained Belarusian.
Recall that Belarusian Sergey Eremeev was detained by FSB officers in the Omsk region of Russia, as reported on December 7, 2023. He is accused of committing two explosions on the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) in Buryatia on November 29 and 30, 2023. The FSB claims that he allegedly confessed to transporting eight explosive devices under the control of Ukrainian special services, delivering them to Buryatia, and attaching them to freight tanks. As reported by the Belarusian security forces-linked channel 'BAZA', one of the explosions occurred as a train passed through a tunnel, damaging two fuel tanks, and another fuel tank caught fire. Another explosion damaged another train, in which four fuel tanks caught fire and two were damaged by fire. The terrorist act, how investigators named the accident, temporarily blocked traffic on the BAM. Sergey Eremeev has been out of contact for over 2.5 months. Belarusian human rights defenders feared that the Russian authorities were intentionally hiding Eremeev.
