Death of Dzmitry Bareichuk

On May 8th, in Poland, after a prolonged illness, Belarusian Dzmitry Bareichuk passed away.

In 2020, he collected signatures for the candidacy of Viktor Babaryka for the presidency. For this, he was thrown behind bars just before the elections. Dzmitry was released from Akrestsina on August 12th. A year later, there was a raid at his home.

For the third time, Dzmitry caught the attention of the authorities in 2022. Again Akrestsina, torture, beatings, and threats. Dzmitry Bareichuk emerged from his cell as a suspect in two criminal cases, showing signs of PTSD, as well as abdominal pain. Doctors diagnosed him with a solid-cystic tumor and recommended its immediate removal.

In 2023, Dzmitry and his family left Belarus urgently. The operation to remove the tumor, along with part of his intestine, was performed in Białystok. However, the illness did not relent. On May 8th, Dzmitry Bareichuk passed away. His family - his wife and four children, three of whom are minors - remained in a foreign country without a husband and father.

The team of the Emergency Humanitarian Aid  Service expresses condolences to the relatives of Dzmitry Bareichuk.
