Sergei Tikhanovsky is the creator of the social movement "A Country to Live in," the author of the youtube channel of the same name, and a blogger.
Sergei Tikhanovsky became widely known in 2019. His channel quickly became the most popular in the Belarusian segment of Youtube. The main "trick" was interviews with ordinary people from the provinces who spoke the truth about the local authorities.
In 2020, Sergei Tikhanovsky was going to run for president, but just before the start of the election campaign, he was arrested for organizing an unauthorized event. Then his wife Svetlana went to the polls.
On May 29, 2020, Sergei was detained in Grodno during a picket to collect signatures. The video of this detention serves as irrefutable evidence of the criminality of the Lukashenka regime. Tikhanovsky was captured, although he did not commit any illegal acts. On the contrary, he tried to leave the square.
On December 14, 2021 (a year and a half after his arrest!) Sergei Tikhanovsky was sentenced to a huge prison term. According to the decision of the pocket court, Siarhei Tsikhanouski must spend 18 years in a high-security jail. In addition, he was charged with planning to organize mass riots, inciting social hatred, obstructing the work of the Central Election Commission, and organizing actions that grossly violate public order.
