Best wishes from the first head of Belarus.
Stanislav Shushkevich: "I congratulate "A Country to Live in" Foundation on its first anniversary. I wish you great success in your humanitarian work, which is second to none. You are saving those unjustly convicted by a terrorist state. I wish you success in your work - help those people who are disadvantaged by our regime."
Stanislav Shushkevich is a doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, a professor who became a politician in the second half of his life. Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus in 1991-1994, in fact, the first head of independent Belarus. In 1991 he signed the Belovezha Agreement, which put an end to the existence of the USSR. After the first presidential elections in Belarus, he came into conflict with Lukashenka, who was beginning to take over all branches of power, which is why he was subjected to revenge from the dictator. An eloquent fact: Shushkevich's pension was not indexed, and at the end of the last century, instead of 300, it was less than 2 US dollars.
After retirement, Stanislav Shushkevich continues his political activity - he lectures at universities in different countries.
Stanislav Shushkevich's congratulations to the Foundation are a great honor for our team.
