Two Months Without Contact with Alyaksandr Aranovich

We have received information that there has been no contact with Alyaksandr Aranovich, a defendant in the "Tsikhanouski case" and the driver of the branded "A Country to Live in" motorhome that toured cities and towns across Belarus, creating a stir in the regions, for two months. Alyaksandr has been sentenced to six years in prison.

It is believed that he is being held in solitary confinement for refusing to sign a pardon petition. As reported by human rights defenders earlier, political prisoners are pressured in various ways to write pardon petitions and admit their guilt.

Let us remind you that Alyaksandr Aranovich was arrested during a high-profile signature collection rally in Hrodna, along with other participants of "A Country to Live in." He was charged with organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order (Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code) and preparing to participate in mass riots (Clause 13, Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code).

After being sentenced to six years of imprisonment under a strict regime, he was transferred to a prison regime for two years in 2023.

Alyaksandr Aranovich has become the third member of Siarhei Tsikhanouski's team (after Siarhei himself and Uladzimir Kniha) to find himself in complete isolation.

Currently, a total of 8 people are in a state of incommunicado.

Please write a letter to Alyaksandr Aranovich. This support is extremely important, even in isolation, as it sends a message to the prison authorities that the prisoner has not been forgotten on the outside.
