103 years ago, on this day in Minsk, in the building of the city theater (now the Yanka Kupala theater), the Belarusian People's Republic was announced. It did not last long, but it became a loud statement of our people about their place on the map of Europe.

Legal default has come in Belarus. The courts have not been truly independent of the president before, but after the events of the summer and autumn of last year, they completely lost even the illusion of objectivity. Another consequence of the legal default is the large number of people convicted on political charges. The courts are now churning out sentences in batches - people are sent to prisons for long terms on the most absurd reasons.
