A year has passed since the terrible events at the "Square of Changes" (the Minsk courtyard, which received this name due to the active civic position of local residents).
There are hundreds of political prisoners in Belarusian prisons right now. These people were not afraid to resist the criminal regime, and they tried to change the system of lies, one-person management, and lack of legality in the country. It is our duty to help them.
"A Country to Live in" foundation provides assistance to political prisoners who, because of their civil position, are thrown behind bars in prisons and isolation wards.
We continue the cycle of stories of people who were persecuted in Belarus for their civil position. Leokadia Koyan was a member of the initiative group of Viktor Babariko, was an observer at the presidential elections, and a volunteer in the camp on Okrestin Street. In November last year, she faced persecution from the security forces, after which she was forced to leave Belarus. Now Leokadia is in Lithuania and can tell her story.
Due to a difficult childhood and a lot of psychological traumas, the mustachioed dictator sent many girls, wives, mothers, and grandmothers to prison. And our Belarusians need to be constantly supported because prison is not the best place for the beautiful half of humanity.
We are continuing the project “Let's back to the legal track.” This time, Marina Nikandrina, a lawyer of "A Country to Live in" foundation, will talk about the types of punishment that Belarusian courts apply to political prisoners and the procedure for their execution.
